A “Wild Paradise” for Humans and Animals

The Academy has dedicated itself to generate enthusiasm for nature and native wildlife and to raise awareness for environmental protection with its tours to the unique and pristine wildlife park in Poing.

Over the past year, zoo educationist Susanne Schimpf and veterinarian Dr. Antonia Hingerle visited the wildlife park Poing on 22 occasions with school classes, children and adults. Every time, the program was tailored individually to its participants and their interests. The goal is to establish emotional relations with wildlife. The offers were extended and are now explained on the website of the wildlife park and the Academy. These suggestions make it easier for prospective visitors to choose the right topic.

For children, for example, the following suggestions are presented: “Wolf, Bear and Lynx – dangerous animals on our doorsteps?” (6 – 12 years), “Silent Hunters of the Night” (8 – 12 years), “Young Animals and Their Families” (6 – 12 years, spring and summer) and the “Animal Researchers Expedition” (8 – 12 years) for those who have experienced a tour through Poing once before. For adults, there are topics such as “Partner Selection in the Animal Kingdom,” “Social Structures of Endemic Wildlife” or special round tours through the wildlife park Poing that explain current projects and important goals of the Academy. Raised awareness and in-depth knowledge aid in the endeavour to secure the survival of wildlife in our homelands. Every single one can contribute to that. Therefore these tours are offered in 2017 as well.
